State-issued school report cards are mandated by state law. They will be issued for the first time in September of 2001. The time line is as follows:
- September 12 - Wednesday: District officials and school principals will receive information about their school's performance rating.
- September 13 - Thursday: Governor Owens and Commissioner Maloney will hold a press conference to announce the ratings. Ratings for all Colorado schools are on the State of Colorado Web site at: www.state.co.us/schools. Ratings for all Aurora Public Schools are also on the APS Web site at: www.aps.k12.co.us/reports.htm.
- September 17-24: Printed copies of the report for individual schools will be delivered to the District. The District will receive copies for all parents and enough to provide to "interested patrons." The reports will be distributed to individual sites. Copies will be in English only.
- September 25 - October 25: Schools will distribute the reports to parents. Each school will decide on their own method of distribution. The law does not specify a method.
