to Minnesota’s U.S. senators,
encouraging them to push for ratification of the U.N. Convention on
the Rights of the Child. Only the United States and Somalia have
failed to ratify the treaty. The United States signed it in 1995, but
until the Senate ratifies it, it will not have legal force in this
country. Write a simple note or call:

| QUESTION |
institutions that purchase
child-made goods:
* If the soccer
balls at your school are not stamped by the Federation of
International Football Association (FIFA), they were likely sewed
together by children. Ask your school’s principal and athletic
director about it. For more information, contact the FoulBall Campaign
at the International Labor Rights Fund, 733 15th Street NW, Suite
#920, Washington D.C. 20005; 202-347-4100; 202-347-4885 (fax).
* If imported
carpets don’t carry the RUGMARK label, they were likely made
illegally by children. Ask a store manager if they carry carpets with
the RUGMARK label. Urge them to contact the RUGMARK Foundation-USA in
care of the International Labor Rights Fund (contact information
above).
