[New]Select Committee on Homeland Security
The mission of the Select Committee on Homeland Security is to form comprehensive legislation to establish a Department of Homeland Security.  It will rely on legislative recommendations reported by the standing committees of the House of Representatives.  The scope of the Committee's work is described in House Resolution 449, which established the Committee in June 2002.

House Committee Hearing Schedules and Oversight Plans
Each committee maintains its own schedule of hearings on the web.   A committee's oversight plan describes its agenda for the 107th Congress, based on the jurisdiction of the committee.   The public can attend any open committee meeting listed, and some hearings are televised by C-SPAN.
