Congressman Elijah E. Cummings Receives 100% Rating from the Alliance for Retired Americans
Rating is Highest Among Maryland's U.S. House Delegation

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Elijah E. Cummings today received a 100% rating from the Alliance for Retired Americans, a nationwide organization of more than 2.5 million union retirees working together to make their voices heard in the laws, policies and politics that shape their lives.

"I am honored to have received this recognition from the Alliance for Retired Americans," said Congressman Cummings. "My voting record on seniors' issues reflects my strong commitment to older Americans and their families - specifically in safeguarding their health and economic security. I have always been, and continue to be completely dedicated to enacting a meaningful prescription drug benefit under Medicare, protecting Social Security and real pension reform."

The Alliance's voting record rates Members of Congress on 10 votes of particular importance to older and disabled Americans - Medicare, prescription drug prices, pension protection, the budget, and Social Security.

In addition to his votes on issues that support senior Americans, Congressman Cummings makes regular visits to Senior Centers to meet and hear the residents’ concerns on local and national issues. He also holds glaucoma screenings, where seniors can receive free screenings for the eye diseases that affect nearly 3 million Americans.
