FEDERATION OF EDUCATIONAL EMPLOYEES
ENDORSE GLORIA TRISTANI FOR UNITED STATES SENATE
Albuquerque, N.M. – The New Mexico Federation
of Educational Employees (NMFEE), American Federation of Teachers,
AFL-CIO, has endorsed Gloria Tristani for United States Senate.
Tristani is running against thirty-year Republican incumbent Pete
Domenici, who has the second highest absentee rate in the United
States Senate.
“We believe that Gloria Tristani will be a strong advocate for New
Mexico’s school children,” said NMFEE President Christine Trujillo.
“On the contrary, Senator Pete Domenici has voted against investing
in our schools and our children's future and even supported
eliminating federal education programs that help provide computers
for classrooms, improve teacher quality, and increase educational
opportunity for poor students, recent immigrants, and Native
Americans.”
“We entrust our children’s future to teachers and educational
employees,” said Tristani. “They are on the front lines of the
battle to improve our schools. We must listen to their suggestions
if we hope to improve our schools. I have sought, am seeking, and
will continue to seek the input of teachers and educational
employees in developing the best education policies. And I am truly
honored to have the support of the New Mexico Federation of
Educational Employees.”
