Congressman
Mark Green

for a brighter future…
American
Security
Last
September’s attacks changed America forever.
Since the unspeakable tragedy of that dark day, Mark
Green has made American national security his number one focus.
TODAY
Mark Green works to defend America on both fronts of the war
against terrorism: abroad and right here at home.
In the fight abroad, he has been one of President
Bush’s staunchest supporters in Congress.
He has backed significant increases in budgets for our
men and women in uniform, helping make sure they have what they
need to do the difficult job our nation has called upon them to
perform. Mark has
also played a key role in working to protect America on the home
front. As a member
of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, he helped craft the USA
PATRIOT Act, making it easier for domestic law enforcement to
root out terrorists already on American soil while still
protecting the cherished rights we all enjoy as Americans.
He has also fought for legislation to better prepare
American communities in case of a biological, chemical or other
terrorist attack. Finally,
he has helped design legislation to stop money laundering and
cut off the resource terrorists need most: funding.
TOMORROW
Mark Green will play an even larger role in the effort to
achieve American security.
As the new vice chairman of the U.S. House Subcommittee
on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, Mark will have
substantial input in the creation of the new U.S. Department of
Homeland Security. As
a new member of the U.S. House International Relations
Committee, he will also have a hand in determining the course of
U.S. foreign policy. Mark
will continue his support for the war on terrorism until it is
won, which will likely take years.
The war will require more resources for our military
forces, intelligence agencies, and domestic law enforcement
services. Mark is
absolutely dedicated to doing whatever it will take to win the
war on terrorism both abroad and here at home.

Community
Safety
American
security may be the top focus of most policymakers today, but
Mark Green believes improved national security will mean little
if Americans still cannot feel safe from crime right in their
own homes and neighborhoods.
He is continuing his battle against the crimes that rob
families of loved ones, steal the innocence of children, and
corrode our communities.
TODAY
Mark Green has become one of the leading advocates in Congress
for tough anti-crime legislation.
The House last year approved his “Two Strikes, You’re
Out” bill that will lock away repeat child sex offenders for
the rest of their lives. He
also has worked to toughen child pornography laws, and has
authored legislation to make it a crime to exploit innocent
people by posting sexually explicit photographs of them on the
Internet without their consent.
TOMORROW
Mark Green
will continue his fight against the crime attacking our
communities. As the
new vice-chairman of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Crime, Mark
will have a hand in shaping every new piece of federal crime
legislation. He
will continue the push for his “Two Strikes, You’re Out”
legislation until it becomes the law of the land, and will keep
pressing for proposals to protect children and the vulnerable
from crime.

Wisconsin
Success
Mark
Green believes Wisconsin has everything it takes to break
through the tough times into a brighter and even more successful
future ahead. Despite
the fact that he has to spend a few days in Washington each
week, it’s no secret that Mark’s heart remains firmly
planted in Wisconsin. That’s
why he fights continuously to try and ensure Wisconsin is
treated fairly in federal legislation, and gets an equitable
share of the tax dollars we send to Washington, DC each year.
TODAY
Mark Green has helped achieve some striking successes for our
state. In a few
years, Green Bay will have its own federal courthouse to serve
all of northeast Wisconsin.
It will also have a new VA clinic to serve the needs of
the brave veterans throughout our area.
The Northeast Dairy Compact, which has long put our
farmers at a disadvantage, is dead.
The farm bill signed into law this year institutes the
first dairy price support system in memory that doesn’t
actively discriminate against Wisconsin farmers.
Mark also helped get $5 million for the transfer of the
Fox Locks from federal to state control, $1.75 million for the
Green Bay Sewage District, $640,000 for programs at St. Norbert
College, and, of course, $200,000 for the Northeast Wisconsin
Technical College’s “Tactical House” project – where
Mark is making his formal announcement today.
TOMORROW
We face even more difficult challenges, but Mark Green is doing
everything in his power to ensure we’re ready.
The first Wisconsin deer hunting season under the specter
of Chronic Wasting Disease lies ahead, and Mark is continuing
his work with Sen. Feingold and the rest of the Wisconsin
delegation to do everything possible on the federal level to
combat this terrible problem.
He is also fighting to preserve the stability of our gas
prices, and will continue pushing for his bill to help ensure
that no family will ever again have to endure the suffering
experienced by the families of the Linda
E’s crew.
Standing
on a record of success…
Tax
Relief
During
his second term in Congress, Mark Green co-sponsored the most
sweeping tax relief measure in a generation.
Including an across-the-board income tax rate reduction,
doubling of the Child Tax Credit, and repeal of the marriage
penalty and death tax, this tax relief package will allow
American families to keep more of the money they earn and has
helped get our economy back on track.
Health
Care
Mark
Green believes we need to provide a better health care “safety
net” for American families.
That’s why he recently supported a new prescription
drug benefit for seniors, as well as a “Patient’s Bill of
Rights” to ensure American health care consumers are
protected.
Education
Mark
Green was a strong proponent of the “No Child Left Behind”
Act, an education reform measure that focuses federal education
policies on higher standards for American schools, coupled with
greater local flexibility, to give our kids the best education
in the world.
Faith-Based
Change
Mark
Green emerged as one of the key leaders in the U.S. House of
Representatives in the fight over President Bush’s new
“Faith-Based Initiative.”
Mark believes the proposal, which would allow government
to work together with faith-based organizations to tackle common
goals such as poverty reduction, will help improve our troubled
communities and the lives of those who live and work in them.
