Is the low voter turnout really a surprise? There is no choice between the Democrats and the Republicans. When the Democrats are in power, they grow government in the economic sphere by increasing taxation and increasing government intervention. When the Republicans are in power, they grow the government in the social sphere by trying to pass laws against various "crimes" like abortion and promoting judges who will rule in an active manner to advance the religious social agenda. And they also will lower taxes while further increasing spending, resulting in deficit spending that later has to be repaid through higher taxes. Power has see-sawed back and forth since the civil war with the constant growth of government no matter who is in power. Every Republican administration and every Democratic administration has increased spending and increased government encroachment in our lives and further contributed to the piecemeal destruction of our freedoms. It truly doesn't matter whether one votes Democratic or Republican. Vote one way now and people will get sick of that party and vote the other in later. Either way, it's a wasted vote. It's an endorsement of statism. Reject the Republicrats -- they're all the same where it matters. Reject the false dichotomy and instead vote for freedom and individual rights. Vote for capitalism and prosperity. Every government act that is outside it's proper sphere -- the protection of rights -- is the compulsion of one person to act against their judgment. Every such government intervention is a destruction of wealth. Each intervention is always on behalf of some interest group. A bunch of Pauls get together and convince Congress to rape the Peters and give the spoils to the Pauls. Then a bunch of Peters get together and do the same to the Pauls. In the end, we have government raping everyone. We have a massive destruction of wealth at every government intervention. This is not a system worth endorsing by another vote for the Republicrats. |
