If you think that all children should have an education, then try to convince people to help those who can't afford it. Don't use the government to arrest and jail those who disagree with you. There should be a complete separation of school and state. The only reason that the founding fathers didn't explicitly specify this is because to them it was so obvious. The last thing we need is the indoctrination of children by the state. Note that our current public school system was modeled (by Dewey) after the system set up by the Kaiser in Germany. (See The Underground History of American Education.) It was the German government's explicit purpose in setting up a public school system to dumb-down and indoctrinate the populace. If that was your goal, how better to set about it than to mandate by law that every child attend government school? |
