Cal Skinner for Governor of Illinois in 2002

Where does Cal Skinner stand on taxes?

The lower, the better.

A few taxes are necessary to support the basic functions of government. But just like in most other states, the fatcats in Springfield are growing even fatter on a steady diet of tax dollars from
your paycheck.

Ask yourself this question: What does the government do that a private company or community group couldn't do better?

And
this question: Knowing about the inefficiency and corruption at the highest levels of government, would you voluntarily send a portion of every paycheck to Springfield?

And
this question: Would Illinois' state legislators spend so much money on their pet programs, if the money was theirs and not yours?

Governor Skinner will slash the state budget and refund the difference directly to you, the taxpayer, the worker, the person who earned it. Forcing legislators to make tough choices, to give up their porkbarrel projects and pet programs that are now paid for at your expense.
