October 23 - Al Gore today will talk with Heather Howitt, a Portland small business owner and new mother, to discuss the big choices voters face on the economy. Gore's economic plan would expand prosperity for all families by paying down the national debt, cutting taxes for the middle class and investing in health care and education. George W. Bush would endanger the nation's hard-won prosperity with a massive $1.6 trillion tax cut that primarily benefits the wealthy.

Gore would protect Social Security's guaranteed benefit and expand opportunity for younger workers by offering new, tax-free retirement accounts with government incentives to encourage savings. George W. Bush has admitted that he would drain $1 trillion of the Social Security Trust Fund into private accounts for younger workers, but he has also promised the same money to seniors for their benefits. more
